Netflix, Back Pain & Pajamas

Netflix, Back Pain & Pajamas

A couple of weekends ago the weather was beautiful but I couldn't get out to enjoy it, as I was stuck at home dealing with muscle spasms in my lower back. It was extremely painful with each movement. It's yet another charming reminder of the effect of old age.  And weak abdominal muscles...yeah. This condition was no fun, especially with an apartment to clean and errands to run. Forty is not the new thirty...don't believe the hype.

Netflix & Pajamas with a side of back pain

As I laid on the couch with a hot pack on my back, I decided to watch something new on Netflix to distract me from my pain.

My selection dejour was MTV's Scream Season 1. I watched the entire first season. I'm surprised I felt this way, but I love this show! It's similar to the movie version but of course with a modern technology twist. The stalking and threatening of the teens is done via social media, cell phone and the internet making this modernized Scream a little scarier than the original movie.

The central character, Emma Duval and her friends are targeted by a masked killer. The killer reveals painful secret and attempts to kill the teens off one by one. At times it seems a little predictable, but don't pay attention to that thought, just enjoy the story.

My only gripe with the show is how fragile and weak Emma comes across. I'd like to see a show where the female lead not only doesn't take other people's shit, but doesn't jump into bed with a guy to spite her boyfriend. The romantic triangle between Emma, her ex boyfriend. Will and current flame, Kieran is ridiculously dramatic. Maybe I'm just too old to take the teen angst stuff seriously.

I can't wait for Season 2 to make it to Netflix. When it does I'll have my popcorn and nondairy ice cream ready for my binge watching session.

Have you watched Scream season 1 or 2? What are you currently loving on Netflix, Amazon or Hulu?
